At the heart of South Pacific is the love story of a naive young Navy nurse (Mitzi Gaynor) and an older French plantation owner (Rossano Brazzi) who meet ona U.S.-occupied South Sea island. A young soldier (John Kerr) and a beautiful native girl (France Nuyen) also fall in love, while Ray Walston, as a scheming sailor, and Juanita Hall, as the native queen of the black market, add wonderful supporting turns.
