Harlan Bio

Renny Harlan is among the first Finnish film directors to make an impact on the Hollywood film community. He segued directly from The Adventures of Ford Fairlane, to Die Hard 2. He also directed Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master, which was the highest grossing film of the "Nightmare" series.

Harlan Bio Harlan attended the University of Helsinki in the Visual Communications Department, and while still a student, started his own production company--writing, directing, and producing documentaries and commercials. In 1982 his documentary film Hold On was named Best Short Subject by the Finnish Film Board.

He made his American feature directorial debut with Born American and then directed Prison for Irwin Yablans. Last year he directed his wife, Geena Davis in Cutthroat Island with Matthew Modine. Later this year, he and Davis will reunite for the action thriller Long Kiss Goodnight.
