Bedelia Bio

Widely acclaimed for her performance as Shirley "Cha Cha" Muldowney in Heart Like a Wheel, Bedelia is probably best known for her performance as McClane's headstrong wife in Die Hard and Die Hard 2.

Born and raised in Manhattan, Bedelia began her theatrical career at age four with ballet lessons. By the age of seven, she had been accepted on a full scholarship as a student in the prestigious Balanchine School of American Ballet, where she performed in stock and off-Broadway productions.

Later, Bedelia auditioned for a part in the Broadway play Isle of the Children and by age twelve had landed a recurring role on the soap opera Love of Life, which was punctuated by parts in several Broadway plays including, Enter Laughing, The Playroom, and Happily Never After.

Bedelia Bio In 1967 she was picked to play opposite Louis Gossett, Jr. in the two-character Broadway play My Sweet Charlie. Her portrayal resulted in winning the Theatre World Award. And, the recognition she received for that play led to her being invited by Director Andre Gregory to Los Angeles to join Gossett, Martin Sheen and other in the city's first classical repertory company. During her second year in Los Angeles, Bedelia began auditioning for film roles and was signed by John Frankenheimer for her first film, The Gypsy Moths, opposite Gene Hackman, Burt Lancaster and Deborah Kerr.

This role led to other film roles including They Shoot Horses Don't They?, directed by Sydney Pollack, and as Richard Dreyfuss's wife in The Big Fix. Later, Bedelia starred in a number of well-received television films, and a recent string of feature films such as Fat Man and Little Boy, Presumed Innocent, Needful Things, and Fallen Angels 2.
